Horseshoes club finds success

Horseshoe pitching shoes are on the road again.

Powell River’s team hosted a mixed classes event recently, attracting some opponents from Victoria.

Awards went to:

  • Class A - second Carol Skrodolis
  • Class B - first Betty Blacklock, second Neil Groat, third Lionel Hanson
  • Class C - first Les Ortloff, second Leonard MacLean, third Sandra MacLean
  • Class D - first Vito Cimaglia, second Frank Hubick, third Bruce Trotter
  • Class E - first Sylvia Sheldon, second Andrew Harrington
  • Class F - first Betty Russell, second Mike Gerela, third Dennis O’Malley.
Vancouver Island/Powell River Championship took place in Port Alberni last month, representing all sanction clubs. Winners for the local team were:

  • Men’s Class D - second Glen Woloschuk
  • Women’s A - first Carol Skrodolis
  • Women’s B - second Lorraine Hubick
  • Women’s C - first Margie Woloschuk
  • Elders’ C - second Les Ortloff
  • Elders’ D - first Bruce Trotter.
At the Abbotsford International Highwayman open, earlier this month, Frank Hubick came first in Elders’ D class.
