Powell River defeats Mission at BC Hockey U18 Tier 3 Championship tournament

Port Hardy Recreation and Civic Centre is hosting the 2021/2022 BC Hockey U18 Tier 3 Championship from March 19 to 22.

Powell River Minor Hockey Association’s U18 rep team moved to the top of pool A at the 2021/2022 BC Hockey Tier 3 Championship tournament on March 20.

Danny Schreurs, Braedyn Louie and Dreydan Harris scored in a 3-2 win over Mission at Port Hardy Civic Centre.

Harris, who scored the winning goal in the third period, also combined with Tanner Burt to set up Schreurs’ first-period goal, which opened the scoring. The game was tied at one after 20 minutes

Mission took a 2-1 lead in the second period, but Louie’s goal 1:17 prior to intermission tied the game again and set the stage for a tense third period.

Burt picked up assists on all three goals for the winning team.

Powell River shut out Winfield on March 19 and meets Whitehorse in its next game, Monday, March 21, at noon.
