Powell River Kings complete weekend sweep of visiting Grizzlies

Noah Eyre’s third-period goal gave Powell River Kings a 2-1 BC Hockey League (BCHL) home victory over Victoria Grizzlies on Saturday, November 19. Will Jones of the Kings and Reegan Hiscock of the Grizzlies traded second-period goals.

Oliver Auyeung-Ashton made 25 saves in goal for the Grizzlies to be named the game’s second star, while Kyle Metson stopped 35 shots for the Kings to earn thirdfirst star honours. Eyre was selected as the third star.

Kings (6-11-3), who defeated the Grizzlies 7-2 on Friday night, swept the two-game set to send Victoria’s record to 7-10-3. Attendance at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday was 689.

The four points garnered over the weekend moves the Kings into a tie (with Chilliwack) for sixth place in BCHL Coastal Conference standings, two points behind the fifth place Grizzlies.

Powell River’s homestand continues on Friday, November 25, when Nanaimo Clippers visit. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
