Carter Turnbull’s second goal of the playoffs with 1:29 remaining in the third period lifted Powell River Kings to a 3-2 road victory over Nanaimo Clippers on Thursday, March 8.

Turnbull’s two-point night, which included an assist on Kevin Obbsuth’s second-period goal, paced the Kings offensive attack. Ben Berard also scored for the visitors, who return home for game six with a 3-2 series lead in the best-of-seven BC Hockey League series.

Kings players claimed two of three game star selections, including Carter (first) and Andy Stephens (third), who teamed up with Josh Coblenz to set up the game-winning goal.

Kings’ goaltender Matteo Paler-Chow stopped 30 of 32 Nanaimo shots to earn his second victory of the series.

Puck drop for game six is scheduled for 7 pm on Saturday, March 10, at Hap Parker Arena.
