Powell River Kings sign cousins from Quebec-based junior team

Forward group of BC Hockey League club bolstered by latest signings

Powell River Kings have signed two players from Quebec: 2003-born forward Colin Ratt and 2005-born forward Wynston Iserhoff.

Ratt and Iserhoff are cousins from Maniwaki, Quebec, which is the hometown of late Vancouver Canucks’ legend Gino Odjick. Both come to the BC Hockey League from Gatineau Flames of the Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL).

“We are very lucky to have both of them come in together,” stated Kings’ assistant general manager Stephan Seeger Jr. “Anytime you can keep teammates together it brings a level of chemistry that is warmly welcomed. We are thrilled to have these two young men join us in green and gold.”

The 20-year-old Ratt is a veteran of major junior hockey, having played 126 games in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with Sherbrooke Phoenix and Gatineau Olympiques. His best season came last year with the Olympiques, when he recorded 25 points in 65 games.

Overall in his major junior career Ratt scored 13 goals and added 24 assists. This season for the Flames, he produced eight goals and five assists in 12 games.

“Colin is a big physical presence,” added Seeger Jr. “He is patient with the puck and is fun to watch play. Fans should expect Colin to bring energy and excitement offensively to our roster immediately with his physicality and heavy shot.”

Ratt will become the first player with previous major junior experience to play for the Kings since Ryan Pouliot and Kyle Pow during the 2018/2019 season.

Iserhoff is a young, skilled forward who has a ton of potential, according to Seeger Jr. He is currently in the midst of his first full season of junior hockey.

In 27 games for the Flames Iserhoff has found the back of the net 20 times, the most on his former team. He has been a point per game player with 41 points in 41 games.

“Wynston is a skilled, shifty forward,” added Seeger Jr. “He will fit into our system very well with his speed and shot-first mentality. He is evasive with the puck in tight areas and has a nice release.”

Both players are expected to make their debuts this weekend when the Kings head to Vancouver Island for games in Victoria on January 5 (7 pm) and Cowichan Valley on January 6 (6 pm). The next home games are January 12 and 13 against Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
