Powell River U13 Kings edge Kerry Park in overtime

Home team gives up two third period goals but rebounds to win in extra frame

Members of Powell River Minor Hockey Association's U13 Kings congratulated each other after a postseason win over Kerry Park last weekend.

Powell River U13 Kings celebrated a 5-4 overtime win over Kerry Park U13 Islanders at Powell River Recreation Complex on Saturday, February 18.

Kooper Kozmeniuk played the role of overtime hero for the Kings by scoring at 6:26 of the extra period, with the assist going to Lucas Gruntman, who also scored twice and set up another goal earlier in the game.

Reid Stekman and Cooper Lawry also scored for Powell River. Gabriel Caldarone assisted on Stekman’s second-period goal.

The teams were tied after the first period, with Gruntman opening the scoring at 1:59. Kings briefly fell behind in period two before tallies by Gruntman, Stekman and Lawry staked the home team to a 4-2 lead.

Kerry Park scored the only two goals of the third period to force overtime.
