Powell River Villa faced a tough task on Saturday, December 9, a road match at Hampton Park in Victoria, home to Vancouver Island Soccer League's (VISL) second best team, Gorge FC, according to Division 1 standings.

Cole Michel put Villa ahead 1-0 in the 27th minute, a lead the visitors held through the first half of play, which included one yellow card shown to Gorge's Cody Gysbers.

The home team rebounded in the second half, tying the match in the 58th minute and scoring the eventual game winner nine minutes later to collect three points and remain one point behind division-leading Vic West FC. Villa remains ninth, one point behind Victoria Highlanders.

Villa's Caiman Duggan was booked with a yellow card early in the second half.

Villa's next opponent is Westcastle, at home on Saturday, January 13.
