Powell River’s Rusty Nuts Oldtimers hockey team travelled to the Sechelt Peninsula earlier this month and faced off against Sunshine Coast Rusty Cranks.

The crowd at Gibsons Arena, estimated to be between four and six by Rusty Nuts player/manager Rob Chalmers, watched an entertaining back and forth game that eventually saw the visitors beat the hosts by a score of 5-3.

“On the scoresheet was Otis Ashworth with a pair of goals, and singles from Dave Milan, Ian Thompson and Dave Tietzen,” said Chalmers. “Grant Wood was strong in goal to earn the win.”

Rusty Cranks will travel north in mid January for a rematch with the Rusty Nuts at Powell River Recreation Complex.
