Carmine Buono, Neal Samanski and Ben Berard scored over a six-minute span for Powell River Kings to erase a two-goal, second-period deficit in game four of their BC Hockey League series against Prince George Spruce Kings, but the comeback at Hap Parker Arena on Tuesday, April 3, was short lived.

Prince George replied with two goals before the end of the period and added the eventual game-winning goal 30 seconds into the final frame for a 5-3 lead. Berard and Andy Stevens set up Kevin Obbsuth’s fourth of the playoffs with 2:28 remaining but cutting the lead to one was as close as the home team would come.

Prince George goaltender Evan DeBrouwer shut the door the rest of the way to lead his team to the 5-4 win and a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The series returns to Prince George for game five on Thursday, April 5, when Powell River will face elimination for the first time in the 2017/2018 postseason. Game time is 7 pm.

If necessary, game six will be played in Powell River on Saturday, April 7.
