Prince George tops Powell River Kings in Trail

Spruce Kings ride three-goal first period to preseason win

In a BC Hockey League preseason battle of royalty, Prince George Sprice Kings outscored Powell River Kings 5-3 at Cominco Arena in Trail on Saturday, September 16.

Powell River trailed 3-0 in the first period before Anthony Yu made it 3-1 just prior to intermission. Prince George took a commanding 5-1 lead in the second period with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes.

Powell River chipped away at the lead. Theodore Jette made it 5-2 midway through the game and Yu added his second of the game early in the third period, but that was as close as the Kings would get to the Spruce Kings, who also led on the shot clock 36-26. Will Baker made 25 saves for Powell River.

Powell River continues preseason action in Merritt on September 22.
