Regional swim meet brings in ribbons

Athletes fare well at poolside

Powell River Special Olympics Swim Team attended a regional swim meet mid-March in Courtney. The team made a great showing and came back with several ribbons for their effort.

The swimmers were:

• Erika Barker: first in 100-metre individual medley, 200-metre individual medley, and second in 200-metre backstroke and 200-metre freestyle

• Lance Barker: first in 50- and 100-metre breaststroke, and second in 100-metre freestyle

• Peter Cossarin: second in 50-metre freestyle

• Ake Glassford: first in 25-metre freestyle and second in 50-metre freestyle

• Lynn Hilton: first in 25- and 50-metre freestyle, and 50-metre backstroke

• Grayce Hilton: first in 50-metre freestyle, 25- and 50-metre backstroke, and third in 25-metre backstroke

• Tanya Norman: first in 25-metre butterfly and second in 50-metre backstroke

• Janet Robertson: second in 25-metre backstroke

• Robert Soumang: third in 25- and 50-metre freestyle

Also attending the swim meet were Bryson Oldale and coaches Laurie Norman, Melissa Furlotte, and Susan Storry.
