Second Villa game in a row cancelled

Powell River Villa soccer team might be a little rusty when it gets back to play after two cancelled matches in a row.

Powell River Villa soccer team might be a little rusty when it gets back to play after two cancelled matches in a row.

Villa’s game against Cowichan United 2H in Cowichan Bay, scheduled for Saturday, November 14, was cancelled due to field conditions after heavy rain throughout last week on Vancouver Island.

The field in Cowichan is susceptible to heavy rain and wasn’t in any condition to play on, according to Villa head coach Chris McDonough.

The club’s previous match on Sunday, November 8, was also cancelled after Villa’s opponent, SFFC Bayside Tigers, forfeited the game in Powell River.

“We should be okay for the next one at Timberlane Park because it is a gravel-based field and it tends to dry faster,” said McDonough.

The upcoming home match is scheduled for Sunday, November 22, versus Lakehill United 2H at Timberlane. The game begins at 1:30 pm.
