Powell River Horseshoe Club pitchers are carrying their shoes to 2015 top awards.
Tournaments began with the Abbotsford Memorial Open in April, where Frank Hubick placed first in his mixed level.
Powell River Recreation Complex pitch hosted 36 entries from Vancouver Island to challenge local players in the mixed open levels in May. Top three placements for the Powell River team were:
Junior girls: first place Elisa Fisk.
Mixed Open A: second place Lorraine Hubick, third place Jim Hoffman.
Mixed Open B: first place Margie Woloschuk.
Mixed Open C: first place Harry Bey, third place Bruce Trotter.
Mixed Open D: first place Frank Hubick, third place Leonard MacLean.
Mixed Open E: first place Sandra Hanson, second place Ed Skrodolis, third place Les Ortloff.
Mixed Open F: first place Sylvia Sheldon, second place Anne Jones, third place Betty Russell.
Mixed Open G: first place Marguerite Kitchen, second place Glen Woloschuk, third place Dennis O’Malley.
In June the team headed to Port Alberni where Lorraine Hubick was third in Women’s B, and Betty Blacklock first in Women’s C.
Mid-month they were in Victoria pitching against 64 players. Sandra and Leonard MacLean placed first in Doubles Mixed then took third for top spot throughout all levels. Elisa Fisk placed second in Junior Girls, while Carol Skrodolis took first in Women’s Class A, Lorraine Hubick took first in Women’s Class B, Betty Blacklock took first in Women’s Class C and Ed Skrodolis took third in Elders’ 30-foot.
In the Ladysmith Mixed Open, July 4, Lorraine Hubick finished third in Class C and Sandra MacLean finished first in Class E.
The following day, Serge Dube finished first in Men’s C, Lorraine Hubick was second in Women’s B and Frank Hubick took third in Elders’ C.
