Stakes remain high for pitchers

Horseshoe club honours season

Powell River Horseshoe Club has ended the year with its banquet and awards night.

With great festivity, food and fun, door prizes and laughter, honours were extolled for great play.

Trophies and plaques were received as follows:

• Smith trophy, novice: Betty Russell

• Cec Coultry, intermediate B: Margie Woloschuk

• Al Hoffman, intermediate A: Neil Groat

• Ted Simmons, top level: Carol Skrodolis

• Doubles, open to all: Neil Groat and Mike Gerela

• League trophy, pros: Diane Norman, captain; Betty Blacklock; Neil Groat; Ed Skrodolis; and Irene Smith

• League playoff trophy, hot shots: Jim Hoffman, captain; Leonard MacLean; Sandra MacLean, Sylvia Sheldon; Gary Thorpe; and Faye Harvey

• Most improved under 20 per cent: Bruce Trotter

• Most improved over 20 per cent: Serge Dube
