Students bring home medals

Another successful event demonstrates calibre of training

Students from the Canadian Martial Arts Academy (CMAA) travelled to Edmonds, Washington, recently to compete in the Pacific Northwest Amateur Athletic Union Karate District Championships and National Qualifier.

Twenty BC students attended the qualifier. A total of 25 medals were won by CMAA students:

  • Craig Long: first place in forms and weapons; second place in sparring.
  • Sawyer Long: first place in sparring; second place in forms; third place in weapons.
  • McKenna Long: first place in forms and sparring.
  • Erin Broughton: first place in weapons and team forms; third place in forms and sparring.
  • Miranda Clutterbuck: first place in team forms.
  • Kyla House: first place in team forms; third place in forms and weapons.
  • Cody Oliver: second place in forms and sparring; third place in weapons.
  • Brooklyn Vanderkemp: first place in forms and weapons; second place in sparring.
  • Kolten Laine: second place in sparring; third place in forms and weapons.

CMAA students will face their next competition in Windsor, Ontario, June 2011.
