Surrey Eagles complete sweep of two-game set with Powell River Kings

Visitors follow up 4-3 win on January 16 by shutting out the home team on January 17

Surrey Eagles scored three times in the first period en route to a 4-0 win over Powell River Kings at Hap Parker Arena on Monday, January 17.

Former King Michael Abgrall accounted for two of the three goals, his 15th and 16th of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season, after Brody Gagno opened the scoring. Jacob Slipec, who also previously spent time with the Kings, set up the fourth and final goal of the game by Grayden Slipec five minutes into the second period.

Powell River held a slight edge in shots on goal, 32-30, but were unable to solve Eagles’ goaltender Max Prazma. Zak Brice made 26 saves for the home team.

Attendance was 475.

The result came 24 hours after the Eagles skated to a 4-3 win over the Kings at the same venue.

Kings host Alberni Valley Bulldogs for a pair of games this weekend. Game time on Friday, January 21, and Saturday, January 22, is 7 pm.

Powell River is seventh in the nine-team Coastal Conference with 23 points. Alberni is third with 39 points. Both teams have played 30 games.
