Powell River Villa came home with its first road point of the season last weekend after playing to a 1-1 tie against Prospect Lake Black 2.

They were wearing Tri-Port Mustang uniforms but it was the reborn North Island Capitals who blew into the Hap Parker Arena and beat Powell River Regals 6-2 in their home opener Saturday, October 17.

Last season, Powell River Regals started their quest for the Senior AA BC hockey championship early, and they liked it so much they have decided to start early again this year.

Road trips are always tough and last weekend was a card-filled match that ended with Powell River Villa taking a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sooke Loggers.

Three local youth are playing for Upper Island Riptide this year, giving sports fans three extra reasons to root for the soccer team.

Unhappy about being shutout 2-0 on the road the previous week against Lakehill United FC2, Powell River Villa took it out on Vantreights FC2 with a well deserved 1-0 victory at Timberlane Park on Sunday, September 27.
