October 31; Brunswick Avenue, 4100 block
At approximately 5:09 pm, police responded to a report of a suspicious male. The complainant reported that the male appeared to be checking residences in the area. The male was described as being about six feet tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. Police attended, but the male had already left by the time police arrived.

October 31; Powell River
At approximately 10:26 pm, police received a report of a phone fraud. An elderly individual had provided their social insurance number after the scammer convinced them he was a social worker. Telephone fraud is becoming more and more prevalent. Fraudulent or suspicious activity can be reported to Powell River RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre through its website at antifraudcentre.ca, or by telephone at 1.888.495.8501.

Remembrance Day
RCMP is reminding the public that due to COVID-19 all public Remembrance Day events are cancelled including the parade, service at Dwight Hall and ceremony at the cenotaph. There will be a small service for the veterans and other guests that is by invite only. RCMP asks that the public not attend this service without an invitation to try to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
