Motorists will face delays on Powell River streets while nine ATCO trailer units are moved through the city on Wednesday, April 17. One trailer will be moved per trip, according to City of Powell River’s engineering services division.

Three vehicles will be involved in the haul: a flatbed that carries a wide load and pilot trucks ahead and behind. The ATCO trailers are 11 feet wide and 84 feet long.

The trailers will be stored at the site of the former Inn at Westview building. A route from the barge terminal beside the Paper Excellence Canada Catalyst mill in Townsite, up Walnut Street to Marine Avenue, south along Marine, and left onto Alberni Street will be used to transport the trailers.

Disruptions will begin at 4:30 am and continue until approximately 2 pm. In a media release, the city is advising motorists to use an alternate route during this time. Drivers are also asked to be mindful of traffic-control workers and not to pass if encountering the trucks.
