In 1894, if you wanted to go see the latest in motion picture technology, you went to the penny arcade. People lined up to stare into the Kinetoscope, a slot machine with a tiny screen you gazed into.

What do you think about this week's editorial cartoon?

I would very strongly support charging fees for electric car users [ City of Powell River Council votes for fees to charge electric vehicles ,” January 17].

Sport is identity-intrinsic, government is identity-inciting; it would help if, every so often, the latter would help the former make us feel better.

Views toward Vancouver and Texada islands from most locations in the Powell River area often amaze, regardless of the season. Some may take it for granted; after all, the view is always there.

What does it mean to be healthy? It seems the more knowledge we accumulate, the murkier the answer to this question becomes.

Every year thousands of Canadians put off doing taxes and wait until the last minute, rushing to find receipts and documents scattered all over the house, garage and car.
