While most of the world’s attention is focused on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic , in Powell River we are celebrating 100 years of papermaking in our community.

by Vi Isaac Powell River needs a cultural centre and a new museum. However, in the current shaky economic climate these two needs are not likely to be met. Meanwhile, let’s concentrate on another huge need in Powell River, a new public library.

Conservatives cut CBC funding Isolated communities all across Canada, including Powell River, depend upon CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) Radio to stay connected to other Canadians.

Easter will be celebrated by thousands of Powell River residents on Sunday. It’s a time for new beginnings, for reflecting on the past and, for Christians, for celebrating the resurrection of Christ.
