BC’s ruling New Democratic Party needs to either accelerate the race to the bottom by eradicating the remaining ancient trees in the province, while rendering any future discussion to moot point status, or they need to adopt a progressive, forward thinking, future generational outlook by preserving them in perpetuity [“Residents take part in forest march held in Powell River,” March 22].
This whole constant fence-sitting state of inertia is the mousy way to lead, and it is neither feasible nor reasonable to continue doing so.
How do you strike a balance in an unbalanced natural world? On April Fool’s Day 2021, a BC Supreme Court judge, also known as a provincial government employee, will proclaim a landmark decision whether to physically remove and arrest supporters of intact ancient trees for the crime of blockading anti ancient tree activities.
This is our Atlantic cod moment in history. Wonder what future historians will have to say? Let’s not make fools out of ourselves.
