The concession stand at Shelter Point Regional Park and Campground is about more than burgers and fries [“Texada Island beachfront concession faces decommissioning,” May 15]. It is a community hub for locals and visitors alike, which serves to feed their appetite for social connectedness.

qathet Regional District is in the business of service provision. Rather than having this asset sit sadly vacant, incentivize a potential operator by waiving the required damage deposit fee and pay their personal liability insurance coverage fee. Potential operators should submit a $1 contract fee bid.

Are we really going to squander a potential opportunity over a few grand?

Make it realistic for an interested party to step up to the plate (no pun intended). Let’s have a fantastic summer, folks. Feeling peckish.
