A wildfire destroyed most of Lytton [above] on June 30. A recent Peak poll asked qathet region residents if they are prepared if issues an evacuation notice.

The Peak polled 238 readers and asked the question: Do you have a preparedness plan in place if it becomes necessary to evacuate your home?

The poll ran from 7/13/2021 to 7/20/2021. Of the 238 votes, we can determine that 120 are from within the qathet region. The full results are as follows:

Yes 26.47 % total, 25.00 % local
No 73.53 % total, 75.00 % local
  Local   Total

In a recent interview with the Peak, qathet Regional District (qRD) manager of emergency services Ryan Thoms said the region is fortunate to have great emergency services, but in a major event, those resources will need to deal with the event and may not be available for individual responses.

This result provides for a 95% confidence level +/- 6.29% margin of error in the local community.

The Peak uses a variety of techniques to capture data, detect and prevent fraudulent votes, detect and prevent robots, and filter out non-local and duplicate votes.
