Poll: Powell River voters split on decision to expand Zunga Bus program

By a narrow four to three margin, city council approved a $130,366 expenditure to expand the on-demand pilot project.

In a Peak poll, 43.76 per cent of votes were in favour expanding Powell River's Zunga Bus pilot project by extending hours and adding another bus, while 56.24 per cent were against.

The Peak polled 537 readers and asked the question: Do you agree with City of Powell River Council’s decision to add costs and expand the Zunga Bus pilot project?

The poll ran from 6/23/2021 to 6/29/2021. Of the 537 votes, we can determine that 357 are from within the qathet region. The full results are as follows:

Council made the decision at a meeting on June 17, 2021.

This result provides for a 95% confidence level +/- 4.14% margin of error in the local community.
