A powerful new force generated by aboriginal people has sparked rallies and demonstrations in numerous locations across Canada, including Powell River.

Coal and volunteers have value I was quite surprised to see a full page advertisement opposing coal on Texada Island (December 28, 2012 issue of the Peak ). Coal has been shipped here from Campbell River for over 20 years.

by Michael Matthews My wife and I have no doctor, nor can we get one. We are Powell River taxpayers and yet there is no doctor with whom we can sign on here. All have full lists, and there is not even a waiting list.

Doctor shortage I am very concerned about the lack of general practitioners in Powell River [“Orphaned patient numbers rise,” December 5, 2012]. My mother is in her mid-70s and due to circumstances beyond her control, has just lost her doctor.
