Powell River hosts pickleball tournament

Pickleball players from the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island will join local enthusiasts of the sport at a tournament in Powell River on Sunday, August 25.

Pickleball players from the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island will join local enthusiasts of the sport at a tournament in Powell River on Sunday, August 25.

Hosted by City of Powell River’s Parks, Recreation and Culture department, the event will be held in the Oceanview Education Centre gym from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Players at the 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 levels will be attending; about 35 are registered so far.

The public is welcome to attend and watch the action.

Pickleball is played at Oceanview gym year-round through an off-site program run by Powell River Recreation Complex with all player levels welcome. Beginner coaching resumes on Sunday afternoons in September.
