Powell River Kings conclude road trip with third straight loss

Powell River Kings dropped their third game in a row on Sunday, October 6, in Victoria to close out a stretch of nine straight games away from home.

The host Grizzlies scored three times in the first period and added two more goals in the second for a 5-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Kings’ goaltender Matteo Paler-Chow was pulled early in the second period after giving up four goals on nine shots. Eric Clark took over for the remainder of the game and saved 18 of the 21 shots he faced.

The teams traded goals in the third period. Kings’ forwards Reilly Moran and Levi Glasman answered Victoria goals to close out the scoring and make the final 7-2 for the home team.

Kings were unsuccessful in four powerplay opportunities while the Grizzlies converted on three of their four chances.

Attendance at the Q Centre was 1,040.

Kings return home game to face Penticton Vees on Friday, October 11, at Hap Parker Arena. The Vees sport a perfect record atop the Interior Division with 10 wins in 10 games. Game time is 7 pm.

Island Division-leading Cowichan Valley Capitals visit Saturday, October 12, with puck drop scheduled for 5 pm. Powell River sits four points back of Cowichan. Both teams have played 13 games.
