Powell River Kings string of nine straight games away from Hap Parker Arena continued with the first of two midweek matchups at the BC Hockey League Showcase Festival in Chilliwack, beginning with a rematch against Victoria Grizzlies on Wednesday, October 2.

Michael Abgrall opened the scoring in the first period and added two more goals in the second to complete a hat-trick and lead Powell River to an 8-3 win.

Jacob Slipec, Jacob Badal, Rowan Miller, Dawson McKay and Christian Buono rounded out the scoring for the Kings, who improved their record to 7-3 with the win and closed to within two points of Island Division-leading Cowichan Valley Capitals. Cowichan lost 4-2 to Alberni Valley earlier in the day, also in Chilliwack. Kings have one game in hand on the Capitals.

Kings return to action for their second of two games at the showcase event on Thursday, October 3, against Langley Rivermen.

Powell River also defeated the Grizzlies four days earlier by a 3-1 score in Victoria on Saturday, September 28.

After the showcase, Nanaimo hosts Powell River on Saturday, October 5, and the final game of nine straight away from Hap Parker Arena for the Kings is scheduled for Victoria on Sunday, October 6.

Kings next home game is Friday, October 11, against Penticton.
