Players, coaches and volunteers receive accolades at annual event

Powell River Minor Hockey Association players, coaches, officials and volunteers gathered for a banquet on Wednesday, April 3, to recognize achievements of individuals on and of the ice for the 2018/2019 season.

Atom, pee wee, bantam and midget-age players received awards, while trophies were also presented to referees and coaches at the year-end event.

Jake McCormick was named Rookie Official of the Year (Jack Hildebrand Plaque), Jackson Frost was honoured as Junior Official of the Year (Mike Fraser Plaque), and Ed Spreeuw was awarded the Luke Bombardir Plaque as Senior Official of the Year. Jodi Mastrodonato received the Bill Dodsworth Award for dedicated service in officiating.

In the coaching category, Jamie Burt was named Rep Coach of the Year, Ryan Milne received the Dustin Clarke Memorial Award as Junior Coach of the Year, and the Harvey Small Award (House Coach of the Year) went to Suzi Wiebe.

Player awards went to: Paxton Schreiber, Atom Spirit of the Game Award (Dennis Clancy Memorial Trophy); Derek Kahn, Pee Wee House Player of the Year; Max Carlson, Pee Wee Rep Player of the Year (Brandon Kremsater Memorial Plaque); Ross Ciarniello and Matteo Porchetta, Bantam Rep Player of the Year (Gary Lupul Memorial Plaque); Ryan Ciarniello, Midget House Player of the Year; Michael Behan, Midget Rep Player of the Year (Don Smisko Memorial Award); and Cody Johansen, graduating midget (Sokolowski Award).

Ryan Sinotte received the Frank Sutton Memorial Award as Volunteer of the Year.
