Powell River swimmers attend Campbell River meet

On July 6 and 7 swimmers from Powell River Aquatic Club travelled to Campbell River’s Strathcona Gardens to compete in their fifth meet of the season. Novice swimmers were Isla O'Donnell, Logan Muzylowski and Blake Lefler.

Division one

Kai Mikkelsen placed ninth in 50-metre backstroke, 10th in the 100-metre freestyle and 13th in 50-metre freestyle. Aiden Muzylowski placed eighth in the 100-metre IM, 11th in 50-metre breaststroke and 100-metre freestyle and 14th in 50-metre freestyle. Londyn Waterton placed second in 50-metre backstroke, sixth in 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle and 10th in 50-metre fly and 50-metre breaststroke.

Division two

Quynn Lefler placed 12th in 50-metre backstroke, 14th in 50-metre freestyle, 50-metre fly and 100-metre freestyle and 15th in 50-metre breaststroke.

Malia Mikkelsen placed fifth in 50-metre breaststroke, sixth in 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle, ninth in 50-metre backstroke, and 10th in 50-metre fly.

Gabe Mussellam placed fifth in the 100-metre freestyle and sixth in 50-metre freestyle and backstroke.

Russell O'Donnell placed third in 50-metre fly and 50-metre backstroke and fourth in 50-metre breaststroke.

Paige Spence placed 13th in 50-metre backstroke and 15th in the 100-metre freestyle; and Isaac Mack placed eighth in the 50-metre fly.

Division four

Ayva Gunther placed first in 200-metre IM, 50-metre fly and 100-metre backstroke, and second in 50-metre freestyle and 100-metre breaststroke and freestyle. Indy Morwood placed 12th in the 100-metre breaststroke and 19th in 50-metre freestyle.

Katie McKamey placed 12th in 200-metre IM, 14th in the 100-metre breaststroke, 15th in 50-metre fly, 16th in 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle and 100-metre backstroke. Noah Mack placed 11th in 50-metre freestyle and 12th in 50-metre fly.

Division five

Macklan Boyd placed sixth in 50-metre fly and 100-metre backstroke, seventh in the 100-metre freestyle and eighth in 50-metre freestyle. Reeve Morwood placed second in the 100-metre freestyle, fourth in the 100-metre breaststroke and sixth in 50-metre freestyle.

Eli Hueston placed sixth in the 100-metre breaststroke and ninth in 50-metre freestyle. Anthony Mulder placed first in the 100-metre freestyle, third in the 100-metre breaststroke, fourth in 50-metre freestyle and fifth in the 100-metre backstroke.

Shea O'Donnell was ninth in the 100-metre breaststroke, 14th in the 100-metre freestyle, and 15th in 50-metre freestyle and fly. Johanna Wood placed seventh in the 100-metre backstroke.

Division six 

Ilia McKamey placed seventh in the 100-metre freestyle, 13th in the 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre fly and 14th in 50-metre freestyle.

Amy Mulder placed fourth in the 100-metre freestyle, seventh in 50-metre freestyle and 11th in the 100-metre breaststroke.

Ainsley Needham placed second in 50-metre fly and 100-metre backstroke, third in the 100-metre breaststroke and 50-metre freestyle and sixth in 200-metre IM.

Amy Ruegg placed 17th in 200-metre IM, 19th in 50-metre fly and 22nd in 50-metre freestyle.

 

Division eight 

Alex Jevons placed first in the 100-metre backstroke and second in 50-metre freestyle. Mary Maguire placed third in 50-metre freestyle.

“The Campbell River meet was well attended by our club,” said coach Mary Maguire. “The next meet at Salt Spring Island has a one-kilometre, open-water event that we have four swimmers taking part in.”
