Former Powell River resident Caleb Johanson, who now resides in Nanaimo, recently competed in the 2019 Vancouver Island Showdown at the McPherson Playhouse in Victoria.
The bodybuilder entered and won the Novice and Open classes, and finished third in the True Novice class at the regional championship event.
The results have earned Johanson the right to compete for his professional card at his next event, an impressive accomplishment considering the showdown in Victoria was his first-ever show.
