In 1923, King Tutankhamen’s burial chamber in Egypt was unsealed by English archaeologist Howard Carter.

In 1959, in what became known as the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro rose to power in Cuba, becoming the country’s prime minister.

In 2005, the Kyoto Protocol, a global warming pact ratified by 191 countries, went into effect.
