In memoriam: Darren Malcolm Clark

April 29,1965 - August 16, 2022
Obit Flowers

There are no words to describe our multitude of emotions as we share the news of the sudden passing of Darren Malcolm Clark, a.k.a. DIRTBAG. He was a much-loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

We were fortunate to have Darren for 57 years, not nearly long enough to enjoy all he had to give. His BIG hugs, his signature laugh, crafty wit and special sense of humour will live on in our memories but will be greatly missed.

Darren was born, raised and lived in, and loved, his hometown of Powell River. He was a talented carpenter, businessman, athlete, fisherman and hunter. Many of us will miss the fruits of his labour he so generously shared.

He was a legend on the ice with the Powell River Regals and on the ball field with Coast Paving and Anderson’s Men’s Wear. If you were lucky enough to call Darren your friend, you knew that he always had your back and would give you the shirt off his.

Darren is survived by the love of his life of 35 years Bev, his amazing son Dillon, mom Lorna, father Daryl, sisters Kim and Laurie and their children Cameron, Tara-May, Rylan and Kaylyn, his aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom still live here in Powell River, as well as his American cousins Darcy and Stacy.

Darren was predeceased by his aunt Lois Thorne and his son Dustin. We take great comfort knowing Dustin will be there to greet him, most likely with a hockey stick in one hand, ball and glove in the other hand, with a tool belt around his waist saying: “Are we going to play hockey, ball, or are we going to build UMTHING?” No S, Dustin hadn’t learned how to say his Ss, maybe that’s what Darren will do first.

The family would like to thank the first responders, Nora and Eugene Stride, Sandra Klint and Richard Henderson for being there in our immediate time of need.

Darren would be so honoured if, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name were made to: Powell River Minor Hockey, PO Box 31, Powell River, BC, V8A 4ZS.

A celebration of life will be planned and announced in the near future.
