To the graduating class of 2022: Congratulations! You have learned a lot during your journey from kindergarten to grade 12.

From your first apprehensive steps into the classroom as a child, you have had family, friends and educators cheering you on. And as you take a leap into the next chapter in your life, I know you will always remember this community and the people who have loved and supported you along the way.

The last few years of your high school experience have been unique to your generation. From closing our schools in 2020 due to the pandemic, to following the mask and social distancing health mandates, and everything in-between, you have done your best. It hasn’t been easy, and I know many have struggled, but you are nonetheless ready to take on whatever challenges you decide to conquer.

Wherever your next steps take you, I am confident that you will always strive to do your best to make the world a better place – whether it is in our remote and unique city here in Tla‘amin territory or in the wide world beyond.

Wherever you go, and whatever you do, your community has helped shape you, so always bring the best of it with you.

Celebrate safely and enjoy your summer!
