RCMP located the vehicle a short time later. While speaking to the driver, an odour of cannabis was detected. A standardized field sobriety test was completed, which the driver performed poorly on. As a result, a 24-hour driving prohibition was issued under the Motor Vehicle Act.

May 25; Highway 101 (south), 7200 block
At approximately 4:43 pm, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident between a van and a cyclist in the driveway of a motel. After speaking to all parties involved, it was determined that the driver of the van did not see the cyclist as his view was obstructed by a tree. The van pulled forward and hit the cyclist with the front of the van. As a result of the collision, the cyclist suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to Powell River General Hospital by EHS.
