May 17; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 12:43 pm, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Joyce Avenue and Duncan Street. A motorcycle was rear-ended at the stop light by a truck. The motorcycle driver was knocked off the bike and sustained minor injuries. A violation ticket for following too close was issued to the driver of the truck under the Motor Vehicle Act. Police would like to remind everyone that there are a greater number of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians on the road in the summer season and to practice extreme care while driving. 

May 17; Willingdon Beach
At approximately 6:49 pm, Powell River RCMP received a report that a pick-up truck had been doing doughnuts in the gravel parking lot adjacent to the Willingdon Beach campground. A witness obtained the licence plate number and reported that the truck was spraying gravel and narrowly missing people and vehicles. Police located the vehicle and the registered owner was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care under the Motor Vehicle Act

May 21; Joyce Avenue
At approximately 12:04 pm, Powell River RCMP received a report that a male broke a window at 7-Eleven by kicking it. Police located the suspect nearby. The 23-year-old man was arrested for mischief and released to appear in provincial court. 

May 22; Poplar Street
At approximately 2:08 pm, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Poplar Street. The resident reported that he had been scratched, bitten and punched, causing swelling and scratches on his face, neck and arms. A 28-year-old female suspect was arrested for assault and released to appear in provincial court in July.
