May 29; Manson Avenue near Park Avenue
At 4:16 am, a Powell River RCMP officer was on patrol and observed a small grey Ford Focus speeding. The officer initiated a traffic stop and determined the vehicle was not insured.

The officer made contact with the driver who admitted they should not be driving and was observed to be slurring his words. The officer detected a strong odor of liquor coming from the vehicle.

The driver provided two roadside breath samples that both resulted in “Fail” readings. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days under the Motor Vehicle Act and a violation ticket for no insurance, no driver’s licence and speed against highway sign.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
