Powell River RCMP seek information about single-vehicle rollover

Collision occurred south of town in the early evening of May 31

The male driver and sole occupant of a vehicle that rolled over south of Powell River on May 31 suffered serious injuries and was airlifted via BC Ambulance helicopter [above] to Vancouver General Hospital.

At 5:09 pm on May 31, Powell River RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver at Highway 101/Duck Lake Road, south of Powell River.

The vehicle was described as a red GMC blazer, tailgating, unable to maintain its lane, and passing on a double solid line.

At 5:32 pm, RCMP responded to an assist for Malaspina Fire Department with a single-vehicle rollover collision on Dixon Road. The vehicle involved in the collision was a red 2005 GMC Jimmy with a similar BC licence plate provided by the initial erratic driving complaint.

The male driver and sole occupant suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted via BC Ambulance helicopter to Vancouver General Hospital.

Police continue to investigate the collision and ask witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage for May 31, 2022, from approximately 4:45 pm, on Marine Avenue, travelling southbound on Highway 101 and Dixon Road, to please contact the investigator at the Powell River detachment.
