Powell River RCMP report on shots fired incident in mid May

Police seized 18 firearms and ammunition on May 20, four days after incident south of town

At 7:41 am on May 16, Powell River RCMP received a report of shots fired on Serendipity Road, south of the city.

The complainant reported that a bullet was shot through a bedroom window of his residence. On May 20, with the assistance of Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification members, Powell River RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the 9900 block.

Police seized a total of 18 firearms, and ammunition, and continue to investigate the criminal offence of careless use of a firearm.

Powell River RCMP reported 97 total calls for service from May 18 to 24, including nine thefts, two for impaired driving, four assaults, one for mischief and five related to mental health.
