On July 26, 2021, at 4:32 pm a member of the public called police to report a well-being check on an occupied vehicle parked behind Walmart in Westview. The complainant could hear an individual screaming and saw the occupant flopping around.

When Powell River RCMP arrived, the driver drove and then stopped. The police officer engaged in conversation with the driver, who was not in distress but was showing signs of impairment. The driver performed roadside sobriety tests, failed, was arrested for impaired driving and the officer continued the investigation.

The driver, Edna May Fisk, 53 years old, of Powell River, appeared in Powell River Provincial Court on May 17, 2022. Fisk was convicted of failure or refusal to comply with demand under the Criminal Code and sentenced to a one year driving prohibition, $1,000 fine and $300 victim surcharge.
