BCHL: Powell River falls to Surrey in final head-to-head matchup

Eagles come from behind to win 4-2 in last game of season series

Powell River Kings and Surrey Eagles completed their 10-game BC Hockey League regular season series in the Burnaby pod at Scotia Barn on May 7.

Powell River Kings were unable to sustain a two-goal lead over Surrey Eagles on Friday, May 7, ultimately falling 4-2 in the final meeting between the two teams at the BC Hockey League pod in Burnaby.

Ben Raymond scored his fifth goal of the shortened season in the first period and set up Adamo Santia’s 11th of the campaign on a power play four minutes into the second to put the Kings up 2-0.

Surrey cut the lead to one before intermission, then added three more goals over a three-minute span midway through the third period, including the eventual game winner, which came on a power play.

Eagles finished the season series versus the Kings with a record of nine wins and one loss.

Ethan Riesterer and Dylan Hewett picked up assists for Powell River. Goaltender Jakob Drapeau stopped 23 of 27 shots in the loss while his counterpart made 27 saves.

Kings have one game remaining in the 20-game BCHL campaign, facing Coquitlam Express at 1 pm on Saturday, May 8. Powell River has won six of the nine games against Coquitlam so far during pod play.
