BCHL: Powell River Kings edge Victoria Grizzlies

Powell River Kings' forward Noah Eyre set up two of his team's four goals en route to a win over Victoria Grizzlies in BC Hockey League action on March 3.

After falling behind in each of the first two periods, Powell River Kings regrouped and came back to edge Victoria Grizzlies at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, March 3.

Alex Sandhu and Anthony Yu scored late in the first period to erase the one-goal lead Victoria had established just over a minute into the game.

The visitors regained the lead with a pair of goals by the 3:14 mark of the second period, but Will Jones replied for the Kings at 3:48 to knot the score at 3-3 heading into the final frame.

Karter McNarland and Sam Schoenfeld combined to set up the game-winning goal by Caleb Bentham with 5:34 remaining on the clock to secure a 4-3 win for the home team.

Noah Eyre, who was named second star behind Bentham, assisted on a pair of goals. His teammate Jack Blanchett also picked up an assist on the night. Victoria forward Olivier Picard was recognized as the third star.

Kings outshot the Grizzlies 37-31. Attendance was 777.

The two BC Hockey League (BCHL) teams meet again tonight in Powell River. Game time is 7 pm.
