Cowichan Valley hands Powell River Kings another one goal loss

Hockey club fails to hold two-goal lead, falls to visiting Capitals

Twenty-four hours after a tough loss in overtime to Cranbrook Bucks, Powell River Kings suffered another one-goal defeat on Saturday, December 2, also on home ice.

Zander Stewart and Noah Eyre staked Powell River to a 2-0 first period lead, then Cowichan Valley Capitals scored three straight goals, one before intermission and two in the second period, to take the lead. Eyre’s second power play goal of the night sent the game into the third period tied 3-3.

Capitals scored the only goal of the final frame, also on a power play. Anthony Lucarelli, Anthony Yu, Alex Sandhu, Stewart and Eyre recorded assists for the Kings. Goaltender Owen Crudale stopped 24 of the 28 shots he faced.

Kings play their next four BC Hockey League (BCHL) games on the road, starting in Nanaimo on Friday, December 8.
