Powell River Kings Society has announced a new management partner, the Birch Group.

"Against the backdrop of recent changes in the structure of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) and the heightened financial and professional expectations that accompany them, we have decided to work side by side with the Birch Group in a management partnership which we believe affords our team the continued stability necessary to ensure a bright and healthy future for our team to remain in Powell River," the society stated in a media release. "Our experience with the Birch Group began in March of 2023, in the context of potential new ownership and operational restructuring. In the following months a working relationship was formed, culminating with the announcement of this partnership."

The Birch Group, which owns the Connecticut Roughriders of the Eastern Hockey League, has appointed Stephan Seeger Sr. as president. His son, Stephan Jr., played in the BC Hockey League for Merritt Centennials and also coached Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

Seeger Sr. will oversee and supervise both business and hockey operations. The Birch Group is fully committed to working with the existing Kings staff moving forward, according to the release. Seeger is encouraging fans to stay tuned for some unique and exciting additions to the organization as part of a restructuring designed to facilitate the goal of transforming the Kings into a marquis BCHL franchise.

"As a society we acknowledge the energy and commitment of our new management partners," the release stated, "as well as the shared vision of a truly enhanced Kings experience for our fans, players and the many diverse community interests that support our team."
