The BC Hockey League (BCHL) has announced the dates and matchups for the BCHL Showcase event that will take place at the Chilliwack Coliseum from October 17 to 20.

The annual event will see each BCHL team play two regular season games in front of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) coaches, NHL scouts and BCHL fans.

Powell River Kings will face West Kelowna Warriors on October 18 at 1 pm in the lone meeting of the season between the two teams, then on Wednesday it will be an early morning affair against Salmon Arm Silverbacks, which will start at 10 am.

“Our annual showcase is the first step for many of our athletes on their journey to receiving an NCAA Division I scholarship,” stated BCHL chief operating officer Steven Cocker in a media release. “Many relationships are built between players and coaches during the event, so this is always a very important part of our league’s schedule.”

With the showcase happening early in the week it will mean a busy portion of the schedule for the Kings with five games in seven days, four of which will be played on the road.

Kings will host Alberni Valley Bulldogs on October 15, then make the trip to Chilliwack for the two showcase games before heading into the Kootenays for a Friday/Saturday double-header against Cranbrook Bucks and Trail Smoke Eaters.

Last season the Kings won both their games at the showcase over Wenatchee Wild and the Bucks.
