Powell River Kings suffer lopsided loss in Victoria

Grizzlies outscore visitors in second and third periods en route to decisive win

Anthony Lucarelli scored the lone goal for Powell River Kings in a 7-1 loss to Victoria Grizzlies on Friday, January 5.

Caleb Bentham and Anthony Yu recorded assists for the Kings, who trailed 4-1 after 40 minutes of play. The teams were scoreless in the first period.

After stopping 22 of the 24 shots he faced through just over 25 minutes of play, Powell River goaltender Owen Crudale was replaced by Tresor Wotton, who turned aside 17 of 22 shots sent his way in the second and third periods. Overall, Victoria led on the shot clock by a margin of 46-31.

Attendance for the BC Hockey League game at the Q Centre in Victoria was 1,104.

Kings head to Duncan to face Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday, January 6. Game time is 6 pm.

The next home games are January 12 and 13 against Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
