SILVER LINING: Powell River Minor Hockey Association’s U15C Kings were presented with silver medals at a tournament in early February.

February has been a busy tournament month for a pair of Powell River Minor Hockey Association U15 recreation teams.

U15C Royals and U15C Kings hosted an eight-team tournament on the weekend of February 2 to 4.

Both teams battled hard in the round-robin and the Kings were able to advance to the finals, where they faced off against Cloverdale for the gold medal. The home team fell 10-5 in the final game but collected silver medals on home ice.

Evan Forsyth and Jack Murphy scored twice for Powell River, while Matthew Marchand notched the other goal for the Kings. Parker Strickland, Nikita Ivanov (two), Linden Frehlich and Marchand were credited with assists.

U15C Kings also travelled to Port Alberni February 17 to 19 for the Bryan Mason Memorial Cup and earned a bronze medal, finishing the nine-team tournament with four wins and one loss while scoring 36 goals over five games played in 48 hours.

U15C Royals travel to Comox for that association's U15C Recreation Tournament on the weekend of March 15 to 17.
