Port Hardy Civic Centre is hosting the 2021/2022 BC Hockey U18 Tier 3 Championship from March 19 to 22.

Powell River Minor Hockey Association’s U18 rep team improved its record to 3-0 at the 2021/2022 BC Hockey Tier 3 Championship tournament in Port Hardy on March 21.

After a scoreless first period versus Whitehorse, Dreydan Harris (from Matteo Porchetta) opened the scoring on a second period power play. Whitehorse equalized prior to intermission, tying the game at one heading into the final 20 minutes.

Porchetta picked up his second assist of the game late in the third period, combining with Liam Carroll to set up Mac Hein’s game winner, which gave the Vancouver Island Amateur Hockey Association champions a 2-1 win and top spot in pool A standings.

Powell River will play in a semi-final game on Tuesday, March 22, but the opponent and game time are yet to be determined as other games in pools A and B are underway or scheduled for later today.

Powell River defeated Mission on March 20 and shut out Winfield on March 19.
