by Vince Hernandez Recently my wife and I attended a very moving ceremony. My son Stephen, while on the way to work about a year and a half ago, was in a freak accident that resulted in his death.

What are your thoughts on this week's cartoon?

Many Powell Riverites have been proudly wearing poppies in the weeks leading up to Remembrance Day, November 11. The poppy was originally a reminder of the blood-red flower that grew in the fields where many Canadians died in Flanders.

Heartwarming response It was a great feeling to read the Peak’s article on page three on the search for mom and baby [“Community comes together to search for mom and baby,” October 31].

What are your thoughts on this week's cartoon?

BC’s government has invested a considerable amount of money and time to prepare for a broad public consultation process about coastal ferry service. However, the framework for the discussion is skewed in favour of the outcome the government wants.

City shakeout It’s 10:18 am on Thursday, October 18. The bells ring and all City of Powell River councillors, the mayor and city staff fight for space under a big table at city hall.

by Betty Zaikow When I was a child, I spent countless hours on the beaches and rugged coastline. The ocean and intertidal zones were filled with amazing creatures and sea life, much like the waters in the north still support.

What are your thoughts on this week's cartoon?

Although covered over, the Squatters Creek landfill periodically bubbles up to the surface, like the stream itself did before it was forced through pipes and buried in garbage.
